Jackdaws Songbirds is a friendly, informal singing group. The group is for adults, but you are most welcome to bring babies and preschool children to the session. Songbirds meet weekly during term time to sing together in a relaxed environment.

There are no auditions, and no previous singing or music experience is required. Songs are taught by ear. Music notation is available to those who read, but reading isn’t necessary. The aim is to enjoy singing together in harmony and to explore different types of music: traditional, modern and world.

The group meets on Tuesdays from 1.30pm- 2.45pm at St Catharine’s church hall, Park Road, Frome. The group sings for an hour, and provides toys for the children to play with. They don’t expect children to be quiet, and don’t expect full attention from parents! At 2.30pm the toys are cleared away and a few songs are sung with the children. There is a suggested drop-in donation of £5 per session, or a termly fee of £4/ session.

There is also an evening group on Wednesdays from 7.40pm-9.10pm. This is very similar to the afternoon group, minus the babies and toddlers. This group meets at St John’s school, Christchurch Street East, and payment is on a termly basis, costing £4 per session.  All ages from 16 years are welcome.
